Munster Archaeology is a provider of archaeological services for both large- and small-scale projects across the island of Ireland – serving the planning and development stages of construction, forestry, agriculture and renewable energy schemes. In addition to this, Munster Archaeology continues to have interest in a broad range of heritage schemes and archaeological research projects.
Providing an efficient, professional response to archaeological issues, Munster Archaeology has a number of areas of expertise, including mapping/surveying, testing and excavation. We are also well affiliated with a number of archaeological specialists such as Osteologists, Forensic archaeologists, Geophysicists, Illustrators and Underwater archaeologists. All archaeological projects are managed by Aidan Harte BA MA MIAI ACSFS, a fully licensed archaeological director with over 15 years experience in the archaeological sector, and member of the Institute of Archaeologists of Ireland.
Munster Archaeology was founded in 2007 and strategically employs innovative techniques and high quality standards to field work, interpretation and final dissemination of findings. All procedures are compliant with the National Monuments Acts, the guidelines of the Dept. of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs together with IAI Codes of Practice. We have refined our ‘common-sense’ solutions through experience and Munster Archaeology has been awarded funding by both the Heritage Council and Universities for research investigations. It has also had a leading role in several forensic investigations. Munster Archaeology has offices and storage at Carrigaline, Co. Cork and facilities in both Co. Kerry and Co. Galway.
